Catherine Hollingsworth is a visual and performing artist based in Charlotte, NC.
As a serious student of ballet and other dance forms, Catherine was drafted into a professional children's performance company, StarDanceSwan, at an early age. She studied ballet until the age of seventeen, and graduated with a degree in Visual Arts from Brown University.
She spent her early years living and working in New York. During that time, alongside her artistic practice, she studied Haitian and Afro-Cuban folkloric dance under Mikerline Pierre, Peniel Guerrier and Baba Richard Gonzalez among others, and performed actively in the community as a member of Mikerline Dance Troupe.
She then moved to Miami, where the city's mix of Caribbean cultures became a fundamental part of her daily life. Over more than a decade, she performed with various groups in the Haitian and Cuban traditions, including La Fortuna Muse Ensemble, Miami Folklorico and NSL Danse Ensemble. She also contributed as a dance and arts journalist for Miami-based and national publications including Art Papers,The Miami Herald, The Miami Rail, Miami New Times and Artburst. Catherine moved to Charlotte, NC in 2020.
Beyond her work in the arts, Catherine practices acupuncture and herbal medicine at her clinic, Red Sage Acupuncture Center, in Charlotte, NC.
